ELBOW - BUILD A ROCKET BOYS!

94 - ELBOW kommt aus der 1990'er Musikszene im Manchaster Stadtteil Northern Quarter. In der BBC Serie "The singing Detectives" sagte Phillip Marlow , ELBOW fühlt sich bei der Aussprache als das sinnlichste englische Wort an. Die Bandmitglieder gefiel dieser Satz und so wurde ELBOW ihr Bandnamen.
Ihr erstes Album "Asleep in the Back" veröffentlichten Sie, nach einigen Wirrungen, im Jahr 2000. Es dauerte allerdings noch bis 2008 bis sie mit dem Album "The seldom seen Kit" ihren Durchbruch schafften.BUILD A ROCKET BOYS! wurde danach aufgenommen.
ELBOW gibt auch viele Konzerte und war auch unter anderem als Vorband von U2, REM und Coldplay unterwegs. Das Highlight war aber bestimmt der Auftritt am 12. August 2012 bei den Olympischen Spielen in London.
