AAS Nr. 411, Saga - House of Cards

Die kanadische Progressive-Rock-Band Saga gehört seit Ende der 1970er Jahre zu den wichtigsten Vertretern des melodischen Prog-Rock. Gegründet wurde die Band 1977 in Oakville, Ontario (anada). Besonders in Deutschland, Kanada und Skandinavien haben Saga eine große und treue Fanbase. Typisch für ihren Stil sind komplexe Songstrukturen, markante Synthesizer, melodische Gitarrenklänge und die Gesangsstimme von Michael Sadler. In AAS spielen wir heute "House Of Cards" - das 14. Studioalbum der Band aus dem Jahr 2021. Dieses nun 25 Jahre alte Album gilt als eine musikalische Rückkehr der Band zur Musik bzw. den Alben der frühen 1980er-Anfangs-Jahre. Es wurde in der klassische Band-Besetzung eingespielt von Michael Sadler (Gesang, Keyboards), Ian Crichton (Gitarre), Jim Crichton (Bass, Keyboards), Jim Gilmour (Keyboards, Gesang) und Steve Negus (Schlagzeug). Das Album beinhaltet zwei Songs der sog. Chapter-Reihe (Chapter 11 und 15). In diesen Titeln wird über viele Alben hinweg eine zusammenhängende Science-Fiction-Geschichte erzählt, bei der es u.a. auch um außerirdische Kontakte geht. Diese Thematik findet sich dann auch auf zahlreichen Plattencovern der späteren Saga-Schaffenszeit wieder. Wir spielen das Album in der US CD-Version mit 12 Titeln und füllen die Stunde mit dem bekannten (1982er) Titel "On The Loose".
