GOLDEN EARRING - EIGHT MILES HIGH
76 - GOLDEN EARRING wurde im Jahre 1961 in Den Hag als The Tornados gegründet. Allerdings hatte die gleichnamige Engliche Gruppe zu dieser Zeit wesentlich mehr Erfolg und um Verwechslungen aus zu schließen mußte ein neuer Namen her. Nach einem Lied von Marlene Dietrich aus dem Jahre 1948 nannten sie sich dann zunächst „The GOLDEN EARRING“, später vereinfacht umd wie man sie heute kennt als „GOLDEN EARRING“. Bis zu den frühen 1970'er Jahren entwickelten sie sich zu einer begehrten Live Band mit extrovertierter Bühnenshow und ausufernden Solis. In ihrer Bandgeschichte spielten sie unter anderem mit Santana, Led Zeppelin, Who, Eric Clapton und Pink Floyd zusammen.
EIGHT MILES HIGH ist eine schön gespielte Rock LP bei der er Lautstärkepegel noch nicht durch Elektronik und Kompressoren immer, wie bei den neuen Aufnahmen, auf dem maximalen Pegel aufgeblasen wird. Halt noch richtige Handarbeit.

Ich muß das wirklich mal betonen:
Ganz früher waren die Zitronen
(ich weiß nur nicht genau mehr, wann dies
gewesen ist) so süß wie Kandis.
Bis sie einst sprachen: "Wir Zitronen,
wir wollen groß sein wie Melonen!
Auch finden wir das Gelb abscheulich,
wir wollen rot sein oder bläulich!"
Gott hörte oben die Beschwerden
und sagte: "Daraus kann nichts werden!
Ihr müßt so bleiben! Ich bedauer!"
Da wurden die Zitronen sauer . . .
