IndieRE - Independent Radio Exchange

Was macht die lokale Musikszene Sevillas aus? Vor welchen besonderen Herausforderungen stehen Nachwuchskünstler:innen in Budapest angesichts der dortigen politischen Situation?

Welche Verbindungen und Gemeinsamkeiten lassen sich zwischen der Independent Musikkultur in Graz, Halle und Dublin finden und was unterscheidet sie?

Welchen Spielraum haben alternative Künstler:innen in der heutigen digitalen Musikindustrie?

Mit solchen und weiteren Fragen werden sich Radio ätudent aus Ljubljana, das Netzwerk verschiedener franzˆsischer Uniradios namens Radio Campus, Radio CORAX aus Halle (Saale), EMA-RTV aus Sevilla, Radio Helsinki aus Graz, Near FM aus Dublin, Radio Student aus Zagreb und Civil Radio aus Budapest beschäftigen. Gemeinsam arbeiten sie dafür im Rahmen des EU-Projekts "Independent Radio Exchange" für die nächsten zwei Jahre zusammen.

Als ein Ergebnis der Kooperation entstehen wöchentlich neue Musiksendungen, im Wechsel produziert. Mit diesen werden Künstler:innen mit der Verbreitung ihrer Musik unterstützt als auch Einblicke in die lokalen und regionalen Musikszenen gegeben. Der Schwerpunkt liegt dabei klar auf Independent Musik und Labels. Schliefllich haben weniger etablierte, alternative Künstler:innen in einer Musikindustrie, die von groflen Streaming-Plattformen dominiert wird und deren Algorithmen eher kommerziell erfolgreiche Künstler:innen bevorzugen, deutlich geringere Chancen, wahrgenommen zu werden. Auflerhalb ihres unmittelbaren Umfelds bleiben sie oftmals unbekannt. Eine Intention des Projekts ist es daher auch, die Bedeutung der menschlichen Musikauswahl zu unterstreichen. Alternative Radiosender spielen bei der Verbreitung neuer, lokaler Musik eine wichtige Rolle. Deshalb übernehmen auch wir bei free FM die Sendereihe.

Aktuelle IndieRE-Folgen könnt ihr jeden Sonntag um 12 Uhr hören. Alle Sendungen werden zudem auf der Projekt-Homepage veröffentlicht und können dort nachgehört werden.

The 51st episode of IndieRe is brought to you by Near FM in Dublin, produced and presented by Neil Farrelly. In this episode we showcase some of the best up and coming Irish artists. Ireland is currently a hot bed of acts breaking through internationally, from Fontaines DC, Gilla Band and The Murder Capital, to Sorcha Richardson, Lankum and Lisa O'Neill, there are new artists from all genres making waves all the time. Here we showcase some bands we think are great and you will also hear more about into the future. They hail from all over Ireland, and represent a multicultural and diverse Ireland. The artists include Sprints, Felispeaks, Rory Sweeney, Actualacid, Rex Arcum, Thee U.F.O., Krypton Bulb, Aoife Wolf, Fizzy Orange, Jam Hades and Pretty Happy. There are also interviews with Andy Marke from the Dublin based label, Fuzzed Up, and with Mark from the band Jam Hades.

INDIE-RE #50 BY CORAX, HALLE

In the 50th edition of IndieRe we take you on a ride through the exciting music of Germany’s alternative and independent scene, we’ve collected a truckload of current releases for you. We start with an interview and two songs from the dream pop duo She Owl about their new record Invisible Heart, continue with punk, spiced up with delight effects by Splizz and Sharizza. From here we take a turn to electronic, wavy and funky music by Tomy Suil and Zouj, at this point we make a little stop to invent our category called »fesch« to show you the German pop artist Nand with his song Dachlatte. The flowing genre traffic gets crashed by Cava, the garage duo that takes us to an interview about their upcoming album Damage Control. We then end our tour with some krautrock, not the smooth kind like Kraftwerks Autobahn, but rough high-speed mathrock by Halbtal.

In the 49th episode of IndieRe broadcast edited by Radio Student from Zagreb we'll present some fresh releases by well-known members of Zagreb alternative scene but we will also showcase a few artists currently at the very beginning of their musical path. The first one is an indie pop rock band Paul The Walrus from Zagreb. We'll listen to the interview with their singer, songwriter and producer Borna Mijolović who will present their first album Sunset Clause released last autumn and first time played live this February. The next one is Seine, an indie punk band whose latest album Naizust was among the most interesting releases last year showing new directions of experimenting with electronics and trip-hop. The show continues with psychedelic progressive band Skotni Vrag and after that we'll present our next guest. He is Toni Starešinić from Zmaj Orko Star, a band of three experienced jazz musicians well-known from different jazz, world music and organic club music projects from Zagreb. Their first album Escape was released in December and Toni will tell us more about this layered instrumental record and the inspirations behind its playful song titles. At the end of the show we'll also feature a project called Panakota and their second single Vodnjak from the upcoming shoegaze indie pop EP that will be released in the following months.

In der aktuellen Ausgabe von IndieRe stellen Rafa Sánchez und Sonia Morales zusammen mit der Technikerin Nuria González einen Teil der andalusischen Indie- und Underground-Szene vor. Sie beginnen mit der Punkband La URSS, dem spanischen japanischen Rapper Icy Amane und dem Elektronikkünstler Atk Epop. Sie interviewen den LGBTQ-Aktivisten Álvaro Romero vom Flamenco-Electronica-Duo RomeroMartín, den nicht-binären Queer-Punk Genderlexx und die Alternative-Pop-Band Airbag. Vorstellt werden zudem Narco, eine Band, die Metal, Hardcore, Elektronik und Hip-Hop mischt und die Rockgruppe Coyote Zora.

In the new IndieRE edition Lilly from Radio Helsinki is showcasing the best of the independent music scene in Graz/Austria, including music from Catastrophy, DEATHDEATHDEATH ft. Nichi Mlebom, The ZEW, FARCE, Sakura, Jayden, Red Gaze, Monsterheart and Paul&Pets. The show features interviews with musicians, gives an insight into Austria’s music scene and promotes the importance of supporting local subcultural communities. Tune in for an eclectic mix of dreamy, distored soundspaces, lo-fi punk, and socially critical content.

The next Episode of the European project „Independent Radio Exchange“ (IndieRE) comes from Civil Radio Budapest. It is hosted by Ákos Cserháti and Dániel Kemény and presents music of Beton.Hofi, one of the newest face of the Hungarian underground, the band Carson Coma, with whom we also have a short interview, Azahriah, Ivan & The Parazol, Blahalouisiana, Anna and the Barbies, Aranyakkord, the Galaxies, Veronika Harcsa and Bálint Gyémánt.

In the new edition of IndieRe your host Ula Kranjc Kušlan looked back at some of the exciting and prominent music releases of Slovenia’s alternative and independent music scene in recent weeks and months. In this edition we take a look at our radio's Compilation Klubski maraton 2022, a project that each year discovers new, mostly unknown young artists working in different genres, audiovisual trio Etceteral that creates polyrhythmic futurist jazz and electronics, shoegaze band Haiku Garden, experimental techno duo Stagnat, hip-hop artist, singer and dancer Sahareya and we highlight another various artists compilation, Clockwork Voltage Compilation Vol. 1 – Happy Little Voltages created by diverse enthusiasts of modular synthesizers.
