Die Sendung Americana umfasst neben den klassischen Stilen der Country Music wie Bluegrass, Cajun, Country-Rock, Honky Tonk, Singer-Songwriter, Tex-Mex oder Zydeco auch die Randgebiete (the edges), die viel Berührung zu anderen Roots-Music-Stilen aufweisen, wie dem Blues, dem Jazz oder dem Rock.

Im Vorfeld von Konzerten erfährt man Hintergründe zu den Künstlern und Veranstaltungen, einschließlich der entsprechenden Musikbeispiele. Gelegentlich bereichern Studiogäste das Programm, meist auch mit Livemusik im Studio. Die lockere Darbietung von Friedrich Hog garantiert zuverlässige Information bei hohem Unterhaltungswert. Rückblicke in die Geschichte der Musik führen zurück zu den Wurzeln in den 20er Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts, konkrete Beleuchtungen aktueller Themen aus Amerika erfahren die passende musikalische Umrandung. Bastian Semm zu Gast in "americana"

Am Sonntag, den 26. Februar würde Johnny Cash 80 Jahre alt werden. Aus diesem Anlass tritt an diesem Tag der Schauspieler, Sänger und Gitarrist Bastian Semm zu einem Johny Cash Tribute Concert ab 19 Uhr im Bahnhof in Langenau auf. Anschließend ist er ab 00 Uhr live bei Friedrich Hog zu Gast.
